Safeguarding Policy Statement

Northern Football Club 'Squash Section' (NFCSS) acknowledges a duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children/young people and adults. NFCSS is committed to ensuring internal safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government, and guidance complying with best practice as identified by England Squash.

This NFCSS policy statement recognises that the welfare and interests of children/young people and adults are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that in recognition of diversity issues the aforementioned category of individuals -

  • Have a positive, enjoyable and safe experience when participating in the sport of squash at NFCSS.
  • Are protected from all aspects of acknowledged abuse whilst participating in squash or outside of the activity while on the premises of NFCSS.

As part of our safeguarding policy Northern Football Club 'Squash Section' (committee) will:

  • Promote and prioritise the safety and well-being of children/young people and adults by maintaining a safe and positive environment.
  • Ensure NFCSS committee members and individual squash members understand their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding.
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern.
  • Ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored.
  • Prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals.
  • Ensure the monitoring of the safeguarding policy will be administered via Squash Committee meetings as a standard agenda item.

The policy and associated safeguarding information will be promoted via electronic (Wazygoose) member information. All members as a consequence of their membership of NFCSS will adhere to the principles of the NFCSS Safeguarding Policy Statement.

Monitoring

The policy will be subject of continual annual review taking into consideration the following:

  • Changes in legislation and/or government guidance.
  • As a result of any other significant change or event.
