The County Committee is providing an Marker Awareness Workshop on Feb 16th at the University Sports Centre, from 6pm to 8:30pm.
The Workshop will be presented by one of the UKs leading referees and currently the England Squash WSO coordinator, Steve Eccles.
Everyone is invited to attend, however there is a maximum of 20 places. If there is enough demand there will be a second course.
The Workshop includes: • Basic introduction to the rules of squash • Marker Calls • Scoresheet Recording • Match Management (Code of Conduct, Illness, Injury and Blood) • Interference (e.g. Lets, No-Lets, Strokes) The workshop lasts between two hours and two half hours and targets those players who wish to be better at marking on a club night. The workshop content is aligned with World Squash Officiating (WSO) Player Certification. After completing the workshop, Steve will indicate how to progress as a referee with England Squash (ES) and World Squash Officiating (WSO) to become a qualified referee should anyone wish.
I highly recommend this course, if nothing else you will learn how to quickly stop arguments from players before they start :)
