The second Sarah Jones Doubles Tournament was held on Saturday 20th July. The 20 players (including Sarah's children Sophie, Abi and Jude) were matched into pairs and competed in 2 round robin groups.
Group winners played the runners up in the other group in semi-finals to decide the finalists, which was a repeat of a group match. However, Keith Linsley and Paul O'Connor overturned the group match result by winning the final against Sam Tufton and Jude Bedford (15-8).
Sarah's parents presented the runners up and winners trophies and afterwards joined competitors and friends for a light buffet and refreshments.
The tournament also raised £70 for St Oswald's Hospice (from voluntary donations from competitors and friends).
Thanks to all competitors and Sarah's family for supporting the Tournament, and in particular Glyn (her father) who travelled from Bristol to be with us, and Dee (her mother) who organised the buffet.
We're already thinking ahead to next year's tournament, which is likely to be Saturday 5th or 12th July (being the nearest Saturdays to Sarah's birthday). Date to be confirmed. .
