The Prince Newcastle Northern Junior Open 2012
This event sponsored jointly by Prince Sportswear and Sport Newcastle will be held on the weekend of 11th /12th February 2012. There will be 110 entries with our juniors having an opportunity to test themselves against the best junior players from around the region. There will be some exciting squash and the competition will be fierce. Please come down to club and show your support for our thriving junior squash section. The finals will be on Sunday with a start time of 3pm.
Court Bookings
Northern Squash Club is a thriving and popular club and because of our full membership it can be difficult to book courts. This situation is not helped when member’s book courts and either do not turn up to play or cancel at the last minute not giving other members a chance to use the cancelled courts. There is also a situation where a member cannot use their court but leave it booked for their ‘mates’ to use then it is left unused this is not acceptable. At the next Squash Committee meeting we will discuss what measures we can take to try to combat this problem. It maybe that a ‘name & shame’ list is posted on the notice board of all the people that do not use their booked courts. Please be responsible when booking and cancelling courts it is in everyone’s interest.
Nothumbria Closed Championships: Friday 13th January – Sunday 15th January
The ‘A’ event went with the seedings. The final was between Dave Barnett and Paul Lord with Northern no. 1 Liam Guttcher getting through to the semi finals. Dave Barnett won the final for the 9th time after coming from 0-2 down. The Ladies event was another close match between Sam Ward and Lucy Beecroft with Sam winning 3-2.
Dave North from Northern got to the final of the ‘C’ event after beating his son Dan in the semi finals. Dave lost to Steve Cubbins in the final.
