General Questions

Understanding the SquashLevels integration

What is SquashLevels? Player

SquashLevels is the UK's national squash ranking system, operated by SquashLevels Ltd. It provides accurate rankings for thousands of squash players across the country based on match results.

How SquashLevels Works

SquashLevels uses a sophisticated algorithm to calculate player ratings based on match results. Your rating increases when you beat higher-rated players and decreases when you lose to lower-rated players. This creates a dynamic, accurate reflection of your current playing ability.

Key features:

  • Dynamic ratings that adjust after every match
  • Separate rankings for men and women
  • Age category rankings (O35, O40, O45, O50, etc.)
  • Club, regional, and national rankings
  • Historical performance tracking
  • Integration with England Squash

Visit www.squashlevels.com to explore the rankings and create your free account.

Why has Wazygoose integrated with SquashLevels? Player

The integration benefits both players and the wider squash community:

For Players:

  • Automatic updates: No manual result entry required
  • National recognition: Your club matches count towards national rankings
  • Progress tracking: See your improvement over time
  • Better matchmaking: Find opponents at your level
  • Motivation: Clear goals and measurable progress

For UK Squash:

  • More comprehensive national rankings data
  • Better understanding of squash participation across the UK
  • Support for England Squash development programmes
  • Enhanced visibility for club-level squash

Standard Practice

Sharing league results with national ranking systems is standard practice across all sports. Just as football leagues report results to the FA, squash clubs contribute to the national squash database through SquashLevels.

Which clubs are using this integration? Player Manager

The SquashLevels integration is currently enabled for the following clubs:

  • Northern Squash Club (Tyne & Wear)

Expanding to More Clubs

We're gradually rolling out the integration to more clubs on Wazygoose. If you're a league manager and would like to enable SquashLevels integration for your club, please contact us.

Data Sharing & Consent

Understanding what data is shared and how to control it

What data is shared with SquashLevels? Player

We share two types of data with SquashLevels:

Data Type What's Included Legal Basis Your Control
Basic Match Data
(Shared by Default)
β€’ Your name
β€’ Match scores
β€’ Match dates
β€’ Club name
β€’ Gender
β€’ League/competition name
Legitimate Interest Can opt out completely
Enhanced Data
(Optional)
β€’ Date of birth (for age categories)
β€’ England Squash membership number
Explicit Consent Must opt in; can withdraw anytime

Important: Date of Birth Privacy

Your date of birth is write-only on SquashLevels. This means it's used only for age calculations (e.g., to determine if you're O35, O40, etc.) but cannot be viewed by anyone, including SquashLevels administrators. It's one of the most privacy-protected fields in the system.

What we DON'T share:

  • Email address (unless you register directly on SquashLevels)
  • Telephone number
  • Address
  • Payment information
  • Password or login credentials
  • Any other personal data not listed above

Do I need to do anything for my results to be shared? Player

No action required! If you're a member of a club with SquashLevels integration enabled:

  1. Your basic match results are automatically shared with SquashLevels when matches are recorded in Wazygoose
  2. Results typically appear on SquashLevels within 24 hours of being recorded
  3. Your SquashLevels rating will update automatically after each match

Already Published on Wazygoose

Remember: These match results are already publicly visible on Wazygoose as part of your league standings. The SquashLevels integration simply makes them available to the national ranking system as well.

To enable enhanced features:

  • Visit your Data Sharing Preferences page
  • Grant consent for enhanced data sharing
  • Provide your date of birth and/or England Squash membership number

Should I grant enhanced data consent? Player

Enhanced data consent is entirely optional, but it provides significant benefits:

βœ… Reasons to Grant Enhanced Consent:

  • Age category rankings: Compete in O35, O40, O45, etc. categories
  • Better matchmaking: Find opponents in your age group
  • Multi-club tracking: Link results across different clubs with ES number
  • Complete profile: More accurate ranking and performance tracking
  • England Squash integration: Connect with national programmes

❌ Reasons You Might Not Want To:

  • You only play recreationally and don't care about age rankings
  • You prefer to keep your age private (though remember: DoB is write-only)
  • You don't have an England Squash membership number
  • You only play at one club and don't need multi-club linking

You Can Change Your Mind

You can grant or withdraw enhanced consent at any time. Changes take effect within 24 hours. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect basic match data sharing (unless you also opt out completely).

Feature Basic Data Only With Enhanced Data
National ranking βœ… Yes βœ… Yes
Match history βœ… Yes βœ… Yes
Age category rankings ❌ No βœ… Yes (with DoB)
Multi-club linking ⚠️ Limited βœ… Yes (with ES number)
England Squash integration ❌ No βœ… Yes (with ES number)

Privacy & Your Rights

How to control your data and protect your privacy

How do I opt out of SquashLevels sharing? Player

You can opt out at any time. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your Wazygoose account
  2. Navigate to My Account β†’ Data Sharing Preferences
  3. Find the SquashLevels Integration section
  4. Click "Opt Out of Sharing from This Club"
  5. Confirm your choice

What Happens When You Opt Out

  • βœ… Future matches: Your internal league results from this club will no longer be shared with SquashLevels
  • βœ… SquashLevels display: Your match results will not appear on SquashLevels for either you or your opponents
  • βœ… Wazygoose publication: Your results still appear on Wazygoose (required for league administration)
  • ⚠️ Historical data: Past results already shared with SquashLevels may remain on their system
  • ⚠️ Effect time: Changes take effect within 24 hours (SquashLevels polls nightly)

Can I opt back in later? Yes! You can opt back in at any time, and future matches will resume being shared.

Opted Out But Still Visible on SquashLevels?

If you opt out in Wazygoose but later register directly on SquashLevels or have results from other sources, you can control your visibility preferences directly on the SquashLevels website. They may still show your profile based on other data sources.

How do I manage my data sharing preferences? Player

All your data sharing preferences are managed in one place:

  1. Log in to Wazygoose
  2. Click your name in the top right corner
  3. Select "My Account"
  4. Navigate to "Data Sharing Preferences"

On this page you can:

  • View your current sharing status
  • Opt in or out of SquashLevels sharing
  • Grant or withdraw enhanced data consent
  • Update your date of birth
  • Update your England Squash membership number
  • See when changes will take effect
  • View your SquashLevels profile link (if available)

Changes Take Effect Within 24 Hours

SquashLevels polls Wazygoose nightly for updated match data. Any changes you make to your preferences will be reflected on SquashLevels within 24 hours.

Can I include my historical matches before the integration went live? Player

Yes! By default, only matches from the date when SquashLevels integration was enabled for your club are shared. However, you can optionally include your historical matches if you want a more complete picture on SquashLevels.

How Historical Match Sharing Works

When SquashLevels integration was enabled for your club, a "go-live date" was set. For this rollout the go-live date is 14 April 2026. By default:

  • Prospective matches: All matches from the go-live date onwards are shared automatically
  • Historical matches: Matches before the go-live date are NOT shared unless you opt in

To include your historical matches:

  1. Go to My Account β†’ Data Sharing Preferences
  2. Find the Historical Matches section
  3. Click "Include Historical Matches"
  4. Confirm your choice

Important: Both Players Must Consent

A historical match will only be shared with SquashLevels if both players in that match have opted in to historical sharing. If either player hasn't opted in (or has opted out entirely), the match will not be sharedβ€”even if it's part of your match history.

This protects player privacy while allowing those who want their full history to be included.

Can I change my mind later? Yes! You can exclude historical matches again at any time by withdrawing consent. Future matches (from the go-live date onwards) will continue to be shared normally.

What are my privacy rights? Player

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your data:

Right What It Means How to Exercise
Right to Access Request a copy of data SquashLevels holds about you Contact SquashLevels directly via their website
Right to Rectification Correct inaccurate data Update on Wazygoose or contact SquashLevels
Right to Erasure Request deletion of your data Contact SquashLevels directly (note: may affect rankings)
Right to Restrict Processing Temporarily limit how data is used Opt out via Wazygoose preferences
Right to Object Object to data sharing Opt out via Wazygoose preferences
Right to Data Portability Receive your data in a portable format Contact SquashLevels directly
Right to Withdraw Consent Withdraw enhanced data consent Via Wazygoose Data Sharing Preferences
Right to Complain Lodge a complaint with the ICO Visit ico.org.uk

Two Data Controllers

Both Wazygoose and SquashLevels are separate data controllers. For data on Wazygoose, contact us at [email protected]. For data on SquashLevels, contact them through their website.

If I opt out, will my matches appear on SquashLevels? Player

No. When you opt out, your internal league results from this club will not be shared with SquashLevels. The match will not appear for either you or your opponent.

  • Your results will still be published on the Wazygoose website (required for league administration)
  • Your SquashLevels profile and rankings from other clubs, tournaments, and team matches will remain unaffected
  • You can opt back in at any time and future matches will resume being shared

What About "Name Withheld" on SquashLevels?

"Name Withheld" is a separate privacy feature on SquashLevels that affects how your name appears across all of your results on their platform. This is not controlled by Wazygoose β€” it is a setting you can manage directly on the SquashLevels website.

If I opt out, will my data be removed from SquashLevels? Player

It depends on when you opt out:

Before go-live (14 April 2026)

If you opt out before we begin sharing data with SquashLevels, your match results will never be sent to them.

After go-live

If your data has already been sent to SquashLevels, opting out will stop future matches being shared but historical matches already on SquashLevels will remain.

Why can't historical data be removed?

Once match data is sent to SquashLevels it becomes part of their calibration system and contributes to the rankings of all players involved. Removing historical matches would affect the accuracy of opponents' rankings and the overall system.

This is a limitation of the SquashLevels integration, not a Wazygoose restriction. SquashLevels requires this data to maintain accurate rankings across clubs and competitions.

Our recommendation

If you're unsure about sharing your data, wait to opt in until you're comfortable with this limitation. You can always opt in later if you change your mind.

How do I view my SquashLevels profile? Player

Once your matches are being shared, you can view your SquashLevels profile:

Directly on SquashLevels

  1. Visit www.squashlevels.com
  2. Use the Player Search feature
  3. Enter your name and club
  4. Find your profile in the results

Create a SquashLevels Account (Optional)

You don't need a SquashLevels account to have a profile and ranking. However, creating one allows you to:

  • Claim your profile and control visibility settings
  • Add a profile picture
  • Receive notifications about ranking changes
  • Access advanced statistics and analytics
  • Connect with other players

Registering is free at www.squashlevels.com

Will the data be added to my existing SquashLevels account or will it create a new profile? Player

The data will be added to your existing SquashLevels account if you already have one. SquashLevels matches players based on their name and club information, so your internal league results will feed into your current profile and ranking.

If you don't currently have a SquashLevels account, one will be created for you automatically when we share the match data.

One Profile, All Your Results

All your match history (from tournaments, other clubs, team matches, and internal leagues) will be consolidated under a single SquashLevels profile and contribute to one overall ranking.

For League Managers

Managing the SquashLevels integration at your club

How does the integration work technically? Manager

The SquashLevels integration is fully automated:

  1. Match Recording: When you record match results in Wazygoose, they're saved to the database
  2. Nightly Export: SquashLevels polls Wazygoose nightly for new match results (typically last 3 days)
  3. Consent Filtering: Wazygoose automatically filters results based on player consent preferences
  4. Data Format: Results are provided in CSV format as specified by SquashLevels
  5. Rating Update: SquashLevels processes the matches and updates player ratings

What You Need to Know

  • βœ… No manual work: Everything happens automatically
  • βœ… Only eligible matches: Singles, non-handicap, non-walkover matches are shared
  • βœ… Consent respected: Players who opt out are automatically excluded
  • βœ… Both players opted out: If both players in a match opt out, the match isn't shared
  • βœ… Secure connection: All data transmitted via HTTPS with API key authentication

What matches are shared:

  • βœ… Singles matches (not doubles)
  • βœ… Non-handicap leagues
  • βœ… Completed matches (not walkovers)
  • βœ… Both players are active members
  • βœ… At least one player hasn't opted out

What matches are NOT shared:

  • ❌ Doubles matches
  • ❌ Handicap league matches
  • ❌ Walkover results
  • ❌ Matches where both players opted out
  • ❌ Deleted players
