Following my last newsletter, I am pleased to update you on the new squash court light payment system, as well as other key information.

Cancellation/Refund Schedule

Under the new payment system, you will pay for your court when you book it. If you subsequently cancel your booking, you will receive a full or part refund of your booking fee.

There will be no penalty for cancelling Off-Peak bookings.

Members will be able to cancel a Primetime booking up to 6 days before the actual date of the booking and incur no penalty. The more notice you give, the greater the refund:

  • 6 or more full days notice: you receive a refund of £4.00
  • 5 full days notice: you receive a refund of £3.50
  • 4 full days notice: you receive a refund of £3.00
  • 3 full days notice: you receive a refund of £2.50
  • 2 full days notice: you receive a refund of £2.00
  • 1 full days notice: you receive a refund of £1.50
  • 3-24 hours notice: you receive a refund of £1.00
  • Less than 3 hours notice: you will not receive a refund

For example, if I book a court for Thursday 7pm, and I subsequently cancel it on Monday at 9pm, I will have given 2 full days notice and receive a refund of £2.00. If I were to have cancelled the booking more than 2 hours earlier (i.e. before 7pm) then I would have received a refund of £2.50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is this new scheme to make money for Northern FC?
Ans. No. The system addresses late/non-cancellation of bookings. Given that we believe members will be more responsible with their bookings, the courts will be more utilised and so will generate more revenue for your club.

Q. What if I have booked a court and on the day and I am asked to play for the teams?
Ans. Ask your team captain to notify Dave North who will process a refund.

Q. What if my partner doesn’t turn up or does not pay their share of the court fee?
Ans. It is the responsibility of you and your partner to resolve any issues. The Squash Committee will intervene only in extreme cases.

Q. What if I become ill/injured on the day?
Ans. The booking is your responsibility. We suggest you ask your partner if they can use the court and repay you.

Q. How safe is the payment company we are to use?
Ans. We use PayPal. PayPal is the faster, safer way to pay online. With 128 million active accounts in 193 markets and 25 currencies around the world, PayPal processes more than 7.6 million payments every day.

Q. Can I change my booking to a different court/time on the day?
Ans. By September 2013 there will be a feature on the booking system to allow you to do this without losing any money.

Q. Can I book extra time to finish my game?
Ans. By September 2013 there will be a feature on the booking system to allow you to book extra time in multiples of 20 minutes (if there is a free court).

Q. How will I know what I have spent on court bookings?
Ans. By September 2013 there will be a feature on the booking system to allow you to view your account payment history.

Q. How do we see juniors managing their accounts?
Ans. It will be the responsibility of the parents of the junior to manage their accounts.

Q. If I cancel a booking and incur a cancellation charge and the court is subsequently re booked will I get a refund?
