SQUASH COURT HEATERS

Allan Curry - Wed 15 Aug 2018

UPDATE

Squash players will now have noticed the sticker’s preventing the use of the court heaters. Speculation may be prevalent with such emotive language as ‘Danger do not use’ for clarification this is the current position –

Six years ago NFC updated the heating systems throughout the club aimed at reducing our energy bills. Hence the current system which has served the courts well. Within the update were regular maintenance contracts.

Some members may recall when one of the local residents complained to Newcastle Council about the constant sound annoyance of the ball hitting the back walls of court one and two. As a result we built a further compensating wall at the rear of these courts. This in turn made the exterior fan on court one obsolete. (The complainant subsequently moved!!!)

Since all of these developments, ‘Health and Safety regulations’ have played a part, with the installation of gas heaters. In essence the recent maintenance contractors have decreed that we do not have sufficient ventilation, hence the emotive stickers. We are now awaiting a final report and advice on how to rectify the situation. Fortunately we are starting to address the issue in the summer. Hopefully we will have the required work done before we require the heaters.

When we know how to progress you will.
