Six girls from Northern squash club junior section represented Gosforth Academy in the keystage 4 ( U16s ) category of the national schools finals at Nottingham recently.
The team coasted to the final with comfortable wins over Benenden ( Kent ) and Wycombe High School ( Bucks ) in the Quarter and semi-finals. Exeter Grammar School awaited in the final.
It proved to be a very exciting final. Gosforth were leading 2 - 1 but Kate Naisbitt was losing in the final game against her opponent at number 4 string. Kate remained calm though and came back to win her match and the title for the Academy.
