Junior of the year

Matthew Thompson is the Junior of the year, actually because of COVID he is effectively our junior of the year for the last three years! Matthew is yet another product of our schools outreach work. He toured the country playing tournaments from a young age and represented the county in every age group. His level of squash got so good that he played for our men's first team before he left school. He has also excelled as a coach. Having taken his level 1 coaching qualification at 16 years, he was quickly helping out with our junior squads and him and his brother John were so good at it that they ran a whole session of Saturday coaching themselves ( over 100 juniors for seven weeks ) Matthew and his brother John are still involved at Northern because they return from Uni every holdiday to run their popular junior squash camps. Matthew is a top player, top lad and a great coach and this is a well deserved award!
