About The Club

Founded in 1976 as part of the local rugby club's sporting facilities, Penrith Squash & Racketball club is one of two squash clubs in the Eden Valley. at Winters Park, Penrith.

Based at Winters Park, we have around 100 members, operating from our clubhouse which has four well-maintained, heated courts and separate changing rooms.

We have always enjoyed a reputation for being a local club for local players with nearly all our members coming from the local area. Despite the downturn in the popularity of the game we have enjoyed the support of a loyal and active membership.

The club has active leagues and one men's team which plays in the Cumbria 1st Division, and one ladies team which also plays in the Cumbria league. We also have an active junior section with regular coaching sessions and leagues.

We run a weekly Club and Open Night every Thursday evening (6pm to 8pm) for all members as well as those non-members interested in trying out squash or racketball without commitment to buying equipment or becoming a member.

We have closed and handicapped tournaments during the year for men, ladies and juniors.

Courts are booked via a booking system held with the clubhouse. These are available in 45-minute slots, with lights paid for through meters at £4 per session. Entry is gained by members by an automated entry system. Visitors to the Penrith area can book by ringing Chris Lilley on 07740 933 989.

The Club is part of the Penrith Rugby Club but has its own committee elected by the membership.

We welcome membership applications from adults, juniors (U18 or in full-time education) and families. There is currently no waiting list.
