• Minutes of the Meeting 18th October 2022 agreed.
4 - Matters Arising/Action Points
4.1 - Action Point Update
• 4.5 Seal for main entrance door is being progressed by Kevin.
• 5 Marc to raise H&S issue of lack of hot water in the Bar toilets with the Executive Committee.
• 5 Marc to raise matter of Cricket membership fees/top-up fees at next Executive Meeting.
• 5 Replacement monitors for squash corridor installed by Kevin.
• 5 Mandy has placed updated Safeguarding notices around the squash club.
4.2 - Team Squash 2022/2023
• Marc confirmed the teams are doing well, and reported the Ist team is currently top of Division 2.
4.3 - Dashboard
• Marc did a walkthrough of the Dashboard reporting membership renewal is 143 to date. He advised the Committee that £991.50 has been transferred to the Club Treasurer for court bookings and £313.50 for squash memberships.
o Squash bank account healthy.
4.4 - Squash club maintenance/improvement
• Changing room – Marc reported that work has stalled until a reputable plumber can be found. Being progressed by Kevin.
• Cleaning – Kevin reported that there are concerns over the current standard of the cleaning.
4.5 - Club Executive Committee Feedback
• None, as meeting is scheduled for 8pm 14th November.
5 - AOB
• Kevin advised that some members have brought to his attention the number of ‘Draws’ rather than proper match results within our internal leagues. The Wazygoose administrator has confirmed this, particularly in leagues 1,2 & 3.
o A discussion then took place and the Committee agreed to remove the draw option.
o The Committee then discussed at length a number of options as to how to end a match and agreed on the following option, to be monitored over the next few leagues: Players to agree at the start of the match as to how the game is to be won e.g whoever is in the lead in the 5th game wins or, play 5th game another time/date with a warm-up of 1-2 games
o ACTION Mandy/Marc to issue notice to members advising them of the Committee’s decision
• Anita raised a query about rising energy costs and a potential impact on membership fees.
o Marc reported that the energy costs are being discussed at the Executive Committee but there is currently no discussion about raising fees.
• Marc confirmed a meeting to discuss the Handicaps for the forthcoming Competition is to be held on Thursday 17th November at 7.15pm.
• Kevin reported that the (handicapped) Team Challenge matches have been scheduled as follows:
o 1st v 3rd Tuesday 13th December
o 2nd v 4th Wednesday 14th December
o Two losers Monday 19th December
o Winners Wednesday 21st December
• Kevin reported that this year’s 3 Racket Challenge is Tuesday 27th December 1-4pm. Need to check if the Bar will be open.
