Minutes of the Boldon Cricket and Squash Executive Committee Meeting held on 7th April 2025

1 - PRESENT

  • John Kilner, Geoff Sargon, Marc Shipley, Chris Ellison, Tom Potter, Kevin Forster

3 - MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

  • Accepted as a true record.

4 - MATTERS ARISING

  • Covered in the agenda

5 - TREASURER

  • Deposit Account - £30,775

  • Current Account - £9,053

  • Patio - Paving blocks bought, wall completed, hard core work being done.

  • Electrical certificate completed

  • New steps to changing rooms.

  • Contribution to glass backed court.

  • Second hand cutter bought from Washington golf club. VAT to offset next quarter.

  • Zinc sheeting needed to damp proof brickwork round squash courts (3 courses of bricks) at cost of £1,300.

  • Grant application for solar panels completed. Club to fund £13,000, probable September installation.

6 - BAR

  • Income is picking up, staffing costs increasing due to living wage and national insurance increase.

  • Bookings – Football club presentation night has been requested. Suggest they go online and proceed through Sam Ellison.

7 - CRICKET

  • 4 pre-season friendlies organised.

  • Ground force day organised for Sat/Sun. General tidy up is needed. Skip to be emptied and another ordered.

  • First Aid course (£400) organised for 16 th April for up to 10 people. Essential to be able to run All-stars and Dynamos (certification required for all competent first spiders before we advertise).

8 - SQUASH

  • Court bookings £1,530

  • Memberships £256.50.

  • 1/3/4 teams likely to be relegated. 2nd team is mid table.

  • Club championship starts in April.

  • Glass backed court completed and is open for bookings. Heaters and seating to be improved behind court 3.

  • Containers – Squash section offered a container but must be ready to accept immediately. Green container out, new one in. Pavers have valuable gear in there so must be kept informed what is available for storage.

9 - MEMBERSHIP

  • Cricket and social membership direct debits are now due (as of 1 st April)

10 - AOB

  • Could the bowling green be made into a car park? Parking outside of the ground potentially a future issue.
