- Marc reported the following results: Boldon 1 won 2 lost 2; Boldon 2 won 2 lost 3; Boldon 3 won 3 lost 2; Boldon 4 won 5 lost 1
Boldon Open 2025
- Everything set up for Saturday 22nd November. Kevin has plastic seat covers for the Bar area.
Handicap Auction & Competition 2025
- Everything almost in place for Sunday 16th November (cheese to be purchased). 36 entrants to date, closing date Thursday 13th November. Marc and Kevin doing Handicap draw Thursday evening, to be revealed on Sunday.
4.4 Squash club maintenance/ improvement
Men’s changing room – problem with floor between changing room and shower area probably caused by leak from the cold water feed to the tank. Kevin has called in the new plumbing/heating engineer for the Club who has done a quick fix but reported that further work may be necessary.
Kevin advised the Committee that new longer cables have been purchased for the tablets used for marking matches.
Members Feedback
- Gary Butler has once again raised the matter of improving lighting along the main driveway into the Club. ACTION Marc – to raise matter with the Executive Committee at tonight’s meeting (10/11/25).
Anita reported poor drainage problem in the Ladies showers. Ian recommended the use of caustic soda. Anita to bring drain brush to help rectify problem.
Cleaning
- Independent cleaner doing a good job, no problems to report.
4.5 Club Executive Committee Feedback
Financial Report: Deposit account £15900; Current account £33,000
Outlay: Corporation Tax £8k
Improvement Spending: Solar panels; Air Con/Heating in Function Room; New boilers installed
Meeting held 16th October with Church Commissioners representatives regarding the lease that is due to expire in 8 years.
2024 accounts returned to accountants to query a few points.
Bar takings tailing off now Cricket season is over.
Wedding venue request for 2026 refused, however Executive is considering renovating the Bowling Green area for future use as a venue for weddings.
Function Room bookings busy every weekend leading to Christmas.
Letter of complaint received about the noise on the Cricket Finals Day. To be monitored.
Winter Nets start January 2026.
Girls Cricket team performed well this season.
Cricket looking for helpers and Level 1 coaches for next season.
Cricket Presentation Night 8th November.
Cricket Committee has reminded their members to respect Club property and officials, along with notification to stop playing ball games against the outside walls of the squash club.
5. AOB
Committee discussed Handicaps for the forthcoming competition, which Marc and Kevin will progress on Thursday 13th November.
Marc reported that he had been contacted by Cai Younger (organiser of the Open Competitions) to ask if Boldon would be willing to host a Racket ball Tournament. Committee discussed this proposal and agreed but suggested dates early in 2026 before Cricket season begins; and also charge court useage. ACTION Marc – to discuss further with Cai Younger.
