The Quarter-finals of the Club Championships were completed on Sunday 11 May. Some highlights were:
In the Ladies Event Josie Barker, a fast improving junior overcame the more experienced Lesley Vitty, 3/0. Lesley’s good all-round game has won her many matches in the past but on this occasion she was unable to deal with the pace and accuracy of Josie who is now looking forward to a semi-final match against No 1 seed, Emma Gregson.
The match between David Home and Dave North in the Men’s ‘B’ event was a hard fought contest but once again youth and speed overcame age and experience. Even a change of shirt by Dave didn’t help matters as he ran himself almost to a stand-still. David won 3/1.
The Semi-finals will be played on Wednesday 14 May 2014 and the line-up is as follows:
