Northern Juniors took over the finale of the Northumbria Dunlop challenge series recently.
The last one of these popular monthly events , held between Septmeber and May , was at Tynemouth Squash club and of the 50 or so juniors that were in attendance nearly 40 were from Northern.
The squash played was of a very high standard and when the dust settled, prizes were awarded to the top twelve players that had accumulated the most points over the nine event season.
The top six players receive squash rackets and bags from sponors Dunlop and they included Duncan Rutherford , James Jones , Joe Elliott, Sam Ponente and Evan Blenkinsop from Northern .. the only interloper was Ben King from Tynemouth.
The next six on the prize list receive Dunlop goggles and they were all Northern players , Sam Ponente, Leon Gent , Ben Tudor , Aidan Mahoney, Joseph Brocklehurst and the only girl in the top 12 , Grace Moore.
A great performance by our juniors and a sure sign that our junior development is on the right track.
