Safe Squash and Safeguarding Policy

The Squash Committee has adopted the following Safe Squash and Safeguarding Policy Statement in line with other squash clubs, and in accordance with Government and England Squash guidelines.


Safe Squash

Boldon Squash club is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for everyone to play squash. It's our shared responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk and protect them from poor practice, abuse and bullying.

Safeguarding Policy Statement

As identified by England Squash best practice, Boldon Squash club acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people, and adults at 'risk' and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance, and complies with best practice from the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU).

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children, young people and adults at 'risk' are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socioeconomic background, all:

  • Have a positive and enjoyable experience of sport at Boldon Squash club in a safe and inclusive environment
  • Are protected from abuse whilst participating in squash or racket ball activities; including outside of the activity.

As part of our safeguarding policy Boldon Squash club will:

  • Promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all participants
  • Ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify, and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to participants
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual(s) who raise or disclose the concern
  • Ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored
  • Prevent the employment/deployment of unsuitable individuals, the inappropriate usage of social media
  • Ensure robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation

Monitoring

The policy will be reviewed in the event of changes in legislation and/or government guidance; or as required by the Local Safeguarding Children Board, UK Sport and/or Home Country Sports Councils and England Squash; or as a result of any other significant change or event.
