3 - MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
• Minutes of the Meeting 9th May 2023 agreed.
4 - MATTERS ARISING/ACTION POINTS
4.1 - Action Point Update:
• 4.4 Mandy confirmed Sport England states we are only contractually obliged to display the Lottery sign for 7 years and as that period has passed the sign can be removed.
• 4.5 Mick and Mandy compiled the list of past members and invitations/tickets have been issued.
• 4.5 Mandy confirmed Costco buffet is being collected Saturday lunchtime for the Anniversary event.
• 4.6 Marc advised no action was required to issue a message to squash members as the Cricket section confirmed they reached their crowd-funding total.
4.2 - Summer Teams 2023
• Marc advised the Committee that there are two teams in the Summer League – Boldon 1 and Boldon Mondays, results so far are:
o Boldon 1 won one match; next match scheduled Tuesday 15th June at Westoe.
o Boldon Mondays won one and lost one.
4.3 - Dashboard
• Marc did a walkthrough of the Dashboard reporting membership renewal is 193 to date.
o There was a brief discussion about the continued rising membership and the point at which we can no longer accommodate further members without jeopardising the ability of existing members being able to satisfactorily book courts.
o The Committee agreed to monitor the situation.
• He advised the Committee that £1,215.00 has been transferred to the Club Treasurer for court bookings and £104.50 for squash memberships.
4.4 - Squash club maintenance/improvement
• Kevin has begun work on the refurbishment of the Ladies Changing Room.
• Cleaning is still being monitored.
4.5 - 50th Anniversary
• Organisation is now complete for the event on Saturday 17th June beginning at 6pm, and the Committee are asked to kindly assist with meet, greet and show past members around the Squash club to highlight the changes that have been made.
• Anniversary Polo shirts are going on sale along with new Boldon Squash shorts.
o ACTION Marc – to do introductory speech
o ACTION Mick – to acknowledge Tony Hackney’s service to the Squash club and to inform him of his honorary membership.
o ACTION – Mandy to thank Bill Kirtley, the architect and founder member of the Squash club.
4.6 - Club Executive Committee Feedback
• Club Current Account £16k; Club Reserve Account £9k.
• As the accounts are fairly healthy the Executive Committee are to look at prioritising maintenance of the Club and grounds.
• Club accounts are currently with KP Simpson, on return the AGM is to be scheduled.
• TV obtained for advertising in the Bar, not up and running as yet.
• More Bar staff required.
• Car Parking is to be looked at seriously.
• Etching on the new front doors is awaited.
• New carpet laid at main entrance.
• Function Room walls repainted.
5 - AOB
• Kevin asked that the results of the Club Championship 2023 be noted formally in the minutes as follows:
o Winner – Ben Sims
o Runner up – Connor Snaith
o Plate Winner – David McKenry
o Runner up – Marc Sadler
• Kevin informed the Committee that the recent Cub sessions attended by East Boldon Scout Group has resulted in 3 juniors joining the club.
o The Cub group was charged £10 per court per session.
o It was the first time the club has had a wheelchair participant in a coaching session.
• Kevin explained to the Committee that a recent incident in the Bar one Sunday afternoon involving offensive language and harassment of staff - whilst the Bar was packed with members, visitors and families - has been brought to his attention. However, owing to the lack of a formal complaint being made to the Executive Committee it is therefore difficult to tackle individuals and attempt to stamp out such anti-social behaviour.
o ACTION – Marc to raise this matter at the next Executive meeting to discuss what notices could be placed around the Club/sent to all members.
