4 - MATTERS ARISING/ACTION POINTS
4.1 - Action Point Update
4.4 (5/8/24) Mandy – Quote received from R&B Cleaning too expensive. No further action.
5 (5/8/24) Marc – Has contacted JC Bathrooms but no response, to be chased. Ongoing.
4.2 - Dashboard
Marc reported that £1,608.75 has been transferred to the Treasurer for court bookings.
No membership money transferred as yet.
4.3 - Squash News
Marc advised the Committee that, on its behalf, he has transferred £200 to the Westoe Squash roof fund.
Marc reported that the new team squash shirts have been paid for and delivery is expected this week.
Marc advised the Committee that he has asked Adam Coates (AC Graphics) for quotes to put signs on each court i.e. Court 1, Court 2 etc., for either the main front wall above the red line (metal panel) or vinyl for the tin area. Marc and Kevin will check the panel sizes. Committee agreed vinyl choice of green font along with black lion at a cost of £170 for 4 signs including fitting.
Kevin advised the Committee that unfortunately Westoe are unable to put a team together for the planned Westoe v Boldon competition on Saturday 14th September but it will be rescheduled for another date.
4.4 - Squash club maintenance/improvement
Marc thanked Kevin for his work mending the overflow on the hopper next to the Ladies changing room.
Marc reported that the re-pointing has now been completed. Whilst the scaffolding is still in place Kevin is to put on the outside casing and fan on the wall.
Kevin reported that Court 4 refurbishment is to begin on Tuesday 3rd September with help from Joe Priestley.
Mandy reported there had been no member feedback.
Cleaning is adequate.
4.5 - Club Executive Committee Feedback
Club Current Account £22,578 and Reserve Account £40,276. £10k has been moved across to Reserve Account. Major outgoings include £3,600 for the first installment of the re-pointing; £2k for refuse bins waste removal; £1.5k Energy costs
Bar sales up, particularly helped in the week of the wedding.
Considering having separate electricity meters when changing the electricity contract.
Cricket nets installed and in use. Looking into putting protective fence around nets.
Container installed behind scoreboard for cricket ball bowling machine
Cricket match with UAE went well, reciprocate match in UAE being considered.
New valve installed by Seaburn Gas Services.
CE to look into water leak in old kitchen.
JK reported that the priority list of maintenance jobs to improve the Club must include securing the cricket steps and fascia plus refurbishment of the outside bar area.
MF asked for refurbishment of the Bar Ladies toilets to be added to the priority list.
JK stated that he felt the unilateral decision to start work on the repointing of the brickwork around the Club had violated committee etiquette and ended by saying that the Squash section had lost an ally in him.
