3 Minutes of the Previous Meeting – Minutes of the Meeting 12th July 2021 agreed.
4 Matters Arising
4.1 Northumbria Squash Winter Leagues
Start 20th September. 6 divisions, same number of teams. Confirmation of teams to be with John Thompson before 16th August. Fees reduced to £15 per team.
Kevin reported only 14 players have responded to his email about team squash.
Committee agreed Kevin should write to the non-responders to confirm participation or otherwise.
Team 1 to play Monday evening; Team 2 Tuesday evening and Team 3 Wednesday evening to be confirmed in due course.
4.2 Team Matches with Westoe Squash Club
- Marc reported that the match held on 28th July at our club went well – Boldon won 5-3, and feedback from both sides was positive.
- The date of the return match to be held at Westoe is to be confirmed.
4.3 Internal Leagues
- Kevin reported that all the internal leagues are now up and running.
4.4 Enhancement of Wazygose Boldon Squash Website
- Marc reported that the squash committee minutes are on the website.
- Any further updates/enhancements are to be passed to the Wazygoose administrator, Wayne Easthaugh as and when necessary.
- Marc suggested putting a short ‘pen picture’ of each of the Committee members, plus a photo, on the website. The Committee agreed to submit these to Marc prior to the next meeting.
- The Committee also agreed it would be a good idea to seek more volunteers to join the squash committee, particularly some Junior representatives.
4.5 Defibrillator
- Kevin reported that the Club Executive Committee agreed the expenditure of £922.80 to buy a defibrillator, which has now been ordered and due to arrive w/c 23rd August.
- The defibrillator will be sited in the squash corridor within camera range and will be for Club use.
4.6 Update on Squash lights purchase
- Kevin reported that the replacement lights are ready for collection and Courts 1 & 2 are to be replaced first prior to the commencement of the Team Matches on 20th September.
4.7 Subscriptions 2021/22
- 71 members joined to date including 3 new members resulting from recent ‘Try-It’ sessions.
4.8 Squash Contribution to Club
- Further to the discussion at the last meeting, Marc outlined his proposals as follows:-
- Membership fees should be passed to the Club Treasurer as we are all members of Boldon Cricket and Squash Club.
- In line with the Cricket section the Squash section should have its own bank account.
- A percentage of some of the other squash income should be retained in order to enhance our facilities.
- The proposals were seconded by Mandy and the Committee voted unanimously to the proposal for a separate squash bank account.
- After further discussion the Committee agreed at a vote of 6 for 1 against to retain 5% of the squash memberships and 25% of court fees for squash use. These figures are to be reviewed in 2022.
4.9 Club Executive Committee
- Marc reported on the current financial status of the Club including the ongoing pursuit of a £4,000 refund the Club is owed by Total Gas & Power.
5 AOB
- Eldon Squash Club is now defunct and it was suggested that it might be worth pursuing anything of use to us that Eldon may sell off.
- Ian raised a complaint about the state of the Club kitchen facility that Marc agreed to raise at the next Executive Meeting.
- Kevin reported that the re-sanding of squash court floors 1,3 & 4 at a price of £250 per court agreed at the Executive Committee in March 2020 is now going ahead on the 6th 7th & 8th September 2021.
- Sunday Social is to re-start on 5th September 2021 from 2-4pm – open to members and non-members.
