Minutes of the Boldon Cricket and Squash Executive Committee Meeting held on 13th January 2025

1 - PRESENT

4 - MATTERS ARISING

5 - TREASURER

  • DA... £50,569 CA...£30,433 Turnover for 2024 was £316,000 with approx £37k retained in profit. This is up from £20k from previous year. Bar/Funct Room took £270k.

  • Membership £19,057 down 15% Squash £9,838 with lights up 19%

6 - BAR

  • Takings are up 17% on last year.

  • Gas has gone up to £9k Electric up 9% to £13k.

  • Money was spent on external doors and pointing work. Received £7K from sales at LWC (last year £6k). Need to consider buying all drinks from LWC (no supermarkets)

7 - CRICKET

  • Indoor nets started last Friday for all ages. Good turnout. Indoor tournament coming up for girls and U9s.

8 - SQUASH

  • Work on glass back due to start. Skip to be delivered on Wednesday for work on glass back. Meeting with Gareth Smith re use of social media. Crowdfunder has brought in some donations and is on target.

  • Club championship to start in early April.

  • There will be no summer team, leaving time to do maintenance work on the courts.

  • Winter leagues have restarted.

9 - MEMBERSHIP

  • No new members.

10 - ARCHERS

  • Researching indoor shooting facilities 2 containers entire to end = 2x40 feet. Will report back with details. Issues arising are access, electricity, rent and situation.

11 - AOB

  • Quotes were not in time for 2024 allocation but we are 1st on list for 2025 (Feb?). This could potentially halve the electricity bill.

  • New staircase and cladding to be done before start of cricket season. Work to be done outside in front of Clubhouse (patio area).

  • AGM poorly attended so improved notification for next year.

  • Discussion on viability of using Inpost lockers, which will need electricity. Decided against.

  • Re electrician - £1,250 for insurance certificate. Do assessment then decide on priorities.

  • Meeting closed at 7.35pm.
